Release time:2024/02/29

Brushless DC motor applications

Brushless DC motors are widely used in various application needs, such as various loads, constant loads and positioning applications in industrial control, automotive, aviation, automation systems, healthcare equipment, etc.

1. Industrial control field

In recent years, due to the large-scale research and development of brushless DC motors and the gradual maturity of technology, the distribution range of its drive systems in industrial production has also expanded, and it has gradually become the mainstream of industrial motor development. Research and attempts around reducing production costs and improving operating efficiency have achieved significant results, and major manufacturers also provide different types of motors to meet the needs of different drive systems. At this stage, brushless DC motors are involved in industrial production such as textiles, metallurgy, printing, automated production lines, and CNC machine tools.

2. Automobile field

In addition to the core engine, motors are also found in wipers, electric doors, car air conditioners, electric windows and other parts. As the automobile industry develops in the direction of energy conservation and environmental protection, the motors used must also meet the standards of high efficiency and low energy consumption. The brushless DC motor is fully consistent with its advantages of low noise, long life, no spark interference, and convenient centralized control. As its speed control technology becomes increasingly mature, its cost performance will become higher and higher. It plays an important role in all aspects of automobile motor drive. The application will be more extensive.

3. Medical equipment field

At present, the use of brushless DC motors is relatively common in the field of medical equipment, and can be used to drive small blood pumps in artificial hearts; in China, high-speed centrifuges, thermal imaging cameras and thermometers for infrared laser modulation of high-speed surgical instruments All machines use brushless DC motors.

4. Household appliances field

"Frequency conversion" technology has become very common, and there has been a trend of gradually replacing "AC frequency conversion". This transformation is essentially the transition of motors used in home appliances from induction motors to brushless DC motors and their controllers to meet the requirements of energy conservation, environmental protection, low noise, intelligence, and high comfort. The development direction of brushless DC motor is the same as that of power electronics, sensors, control theory and other technologies. It is the product of a combination of multiple technologies, and its development depends on the innovation and progress of each technology related to it.

5. Office computer peripherals and electronic and digital consumer goods fields

Common printers, fax machines, copiers, hard disk drives, floppy disk drives, movie cameras, etc. that are common in life all have brushless DC motors in the drive control of their spindles and auxiliary movements.

How to drive a brushless DC motor

The driving methods of brushless direct motors can be divided into multiple driving methods according to different categories, each with its own characteristics.

According to the drive waveform: square wave drive, this drive method is easy to implement and easy to control the motor without position sensor;

Sine drive: This drive method can improve the operating effect of the motor and make the output torque uniform, but the implementation process is relatively complicated. At the same time, this method has two methods: SPWM and SVPWM (space vector PWM). The effect of SVPWM is better than SPWM.
